The rib Locking Plate is suitable for internal fixation after rib fracture, fusion, and osteotomy.

Features and Advantages 

This bone plate is anatomically designed, and the operation time is significantly shortened. Screw locking structure to prevent the occurrence of screw tripping. Once the first ring is inside the plate, the screw will be locked. There is no need to remove the periosteum, and there is no damage to the intercostal nerves and blood vessels. The low-profile design helps to reduce the irritation to the soft tissues. The locking plate orthopedic was made of grade 3 medical titanium material, and the matching screws were made of grade 5 medical titanium. MRI and CT scans can be supported. Surface anodized treatment to enhance the hardness and corrosion resistance of the locking plate. A variety of specifications are available to suit the surgical needs of different patients. Technical guidance for rib locking plate fixation

1.Expose fractured ribs,make an incision on the surface of the re-fracture area, ensure that at least three screws can be placed on both sides of the fracture line, and remove all nonvascularized bone fragments. It should be noted that the lateral thoracic injury can be accessed through the anterior border of the latissimus dorsi muscle without removing the periosteum.

2.Make a small incision in the intercostal space at the upper edge of the rib to insert the measuring device tip, and measure the thickness of the rib, add the thickness of the fixing plate by 2mm to the measurement results, select the corresponding depth limiting drill and screw, pay attention to avoid the neurovascular bundle at the lower edge of the rib.

3.Reduction of fractured ribs,use reduction forceps to reduce the fractured ribs.

4.Trim the template to ensure that at least three screws can be placed on both sides of the fracture line, according to the rib shape template.

5.Select and trim the rib Titanium Plate,select the most suitable locking plate according to the shaped template, and shear the plate according to the situation if necessary. At least 3 screws should be inserted on each side of the fracture line to ensure adequate stability.

6.Shape the orthopedic plates, if necessary, shape the locking plate according to the template with 3D shaping forceps. Avoid over-bending, reverse bending or re-bending at the hole site.

7.Put the fixing plate in place, check and confirm that the fixing plate matches the ribs, and fix the fixing plate to the ribs with the holding plate pliers.

8.Screw the drilling guide into the fixed plate, which helps to ensure that the drilling process is safe and effective. Select the depth limiting drill bit in step 2 (the length of the depth limiting drill bit ranges from 6 to 14mm, and the increments are 2mm, matching the length of the locking nail). After the drilling was completed, the guide was removed.

9.Use a depth gauge to determine the appropriate length of the screw (do not extend the tip of the depth gauge too far beyond the cortical bone at the posterior edge of the ribs). The corresponding length of screws (no more than 1mm beyond the cortical bone at the posterior edge of the ribs) was selected, and the locking screws were inserted and tightened.

10.Drill and insert the remaining screws,check whether the rib reduction is correct, and insert the second screw on the opposite side of the fracture line according to the above method, and the remaining screws are inserted alternately on both sides.
